Carved out of rock crystal from the reverse, then hand-painted in hues ranging from umber to chocolate brown, tan, white and gray, this handsome pup in profile gazes to the left. Its long coat of fur and pert ears denote classic collie markings, whether it's a miniature breed, sheltie, or your full size variety.
Oval in shape, it is surrounded by tiny pinky cream colored natural saltwater seed pearls wired to the frame. Beneath scrolling designs embellish the rim, the entire setting is of 14k white gold.
Art Deco and dating to the 1930s, the back thoughtfully includes a brace so that when worn, it sits evenly and doesn't tilt. With a safety clasp, it is secure.

Note: Essex crystal's had their heyday from the 1840s through the 1930s. Various subjects were preferred, often animals or flowers but an array can be found. As the decades wore on, often the quality deteriorated, some even became poorly pressed glass without hand painting. While this is a later example, its quality is equal to the finest.
